Youth Enterprise Development Fund (YEDF)

Empowering Kenya’s Youth through the Youth Enterprise Development Fund

The Youth Enterprise Development Fund (YEDF) stands as a beacon of hope for Kenya’s young entrepreneurs. Established on December 8, 2006, and later transformed into a State Corporation on May 11, 2007, YEDF operates under the Ministry of Public Service, Youth, and Gender. This initiative is a key component of Vision 2030, focusing specifically on the social pillar.

YEDF’s primary mission is to foster entrepreneurship among the youth, aiming to enhance economic opportunities and promote their active participation in nation-building. By encouraging young people to become job creators rather than job seekers, the Fund plays a crucial role in transforming the economic landscape of Kenya.

The Fund achieves its objectives by providing accessible and affordable financial support and business development services tailored to the needs of young entrepreneurs. These services empower youth to start and expand their businesses, thereby creating employment opportunities and contributing to the nation’s economic growth.

Since its inception, YEDF has disbursed a total of 12.8 billion Kenya Shillings nationwide, making significant strides in empowering Kenya’s youth and driving sustainable development across the country
